Side channel fuel pumps are built into passenger cars every day during production. Proper functioning of these parts is crucial concerning the operation of the vehicle. The amount of electric power used by these pumps is one of the main load considerations when designing the electric network of cars. Despite this fact, there is a lack of knowledge about their exact operation. Therefore, it is necessary to discover the cause of its low efficiency and to establish a theoretical background in order to improve the current design.
The aim of the numerical simulation was the investigation of the flow field in a fuel pump manufactured by Visteon, in order to provide recommendations for development.
