In the case of combined cycle energy production (gas and steam turbine), the exhaust gas of the gas turbine contains a significant amount of oxygen. Generally, natural gas is burnt in the flow of the exhaust gas before the hot gas is carried to the furnace of the steam turbine unit.
The uneven heat load on the furnace pipes may cause excessive mechanical tension that endangers the function and lifetime of the furnace. With the proper design of the exhaust gas pipeline even flow and heat load can be reached in the cross section of the gas burners and on the heat transfer surface of the furnace.
